Glad to know that you and your little one had a ball your first time out, Ebony! Keep jammin…and see you next year.

  2. I’ve been attending the house music picnic off and on over the past 18 years, when it begin behind the musuem. I truly love it then and now. I loved the crew from New York Louie Vega and Kevin Hodge they were excellent. I’m trying to make plans to go to the east coast to see them perform again.

Nonetheless, I would have to concur with some of the other replies, house music is suppose to exhausted you to the point of no return. TOO MUCH TALKING!!! Not enough music. The side show with the music acts from the 70′s and 80′s was too much. That’s need to STOP or something. You guys noticed when they performed people did leave. We come to hear HOUSE MUSIC all day long!!!! YES TAKE A BREAK…do something else creative while breaking.

As for the DISS the MC guy, black women are major supports of this event. We purchase the tickets for our friends, we purchase the food, we make the iteneriary, we make all of the plans we encourage family members and etc… Please don’t take this as if I’m HATING… the woman dancing where gorgeous and was dancing their fannies off. How come their aren’t more black woman dancing on the stage…that concerns us. I KNOW HOUSE MUSIC IS FOR ALL RACES, ALL COLORs and genders. It should have been some short haired, braided, twisted locked beautiful caramel, brown or dark brown women dancing on that stage. see documentary by “Bill Duke, dark girls” listen and comphrehend. It affects all skin colors of black women from fair, light skinned, caramel to dk chocolate. DJ guy listen to your black women when they speak.

If house music is for everybody…how can it wasn’t gay men dancing on the stage too. When I first heard house music, I went to the warehouse, where men danced with men and women danced with women and we danced by ourselves. We felt free and independent. So be a equal employers opportunist…don’t discriminate let everybody dance all genders.

Thank you again for a great day, I’m really very proud of the chosen few, you guys are AMAZING!!!!. I got a secret, house music will become a solutions for our youth. Make a public health agenda that includes house music. Make money my black brothers and sisters…make money. I loved meeting old friends and listening to good music…Thanks to Jesse Saunders my favorite DJ…he sings the music while he spins it, and send us a message that he really enjoys what he does.

This was my second year attending, and I had a blast again. Peaceful partying is the best!!! I came alone as well, but you’re always sure to run into someone you know…I’ll be back again next year!!!

This was my 5th year attending. I had a great time as usual. There is nothing like running into friends that you have not seen since childhood.

However, I have to agree with some of the others that the music was not all there this year. Doing what I do I TOTALLY understand that sponsors, etc. have to be paid therefore their messages have to come across, but at times it felt like there was more talking than music. And some of that music was not house at all. Keep that off the program.

I understand giving the talent, etc. a chance, but please, please, please do not overlook the scope of what we all have come expect. We want the music to be jumping HOUSE all day to the point where we sweat and are exhausted at the end. We want to go away telling all of our friends that the party was all that. But, most that I have spoken to agree that the music just was not right this year. Oh, and at one of the best points the sound cut out. Doh!

I am confident that it will be a good time again next year. But remember… we come there to dance.

    Kris

No, Thank YOU, for the planning and execution of a Peaceful event on the south side of our beautiful city. I live right in the Woodlawn neighborhood and can honestly say that I was proud of the way that things were handled on Saturday. All to many times the spotlight is placed on negativity and the credit for the Positive is not given. Keep doing what you are doing, there is no price that I won’t pay for the Fun, Love, Peace, and Music that is brought to the park every year. One thing I DO need is some INFO as far as the shuttle service and possible Lost & Found, I think I left a bag in a shuttle and want to make an attempt at trying to retrieve it. That would be my ONLY loss from SAT. :-(

    • Alan on said:

G, thank you for the kind words and we’re glad you enjoyed yourself! Sorry to hear about the bag. We’ll inquire with respect to our lost and found area inside the picnic grounds. However, any shuttle service must have been provided by a private company and not the Chosen Few. We are unaware of ant shuttle service providers. Thanks again!

THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME ATTENDING….I WAS THERE FROM 11:30 TILL THE END..HAD A ABSOLUTE BLAST. NO FIGHTING..NO ARGUING…AND MOST OF ALL NO SHOOTING.. LIKE THE OTHER PERSON STATED ITS SAD THE MEDIA CAN’T DO A REPORT ON GOOD THINGS HAPPENING IN THE HOOD.. CAN’T WAIT FOR NEXT YR. THINK I WILL GET A TENT

    • Lehia on said:

Hi, Renee! Glad you had a great time. While we can always use more media love, this year’s picnic did get quite a bit of play. Click here for the media round-up: http://chosenfewdjs.com/about/press

  11. I had an awesome time at the picnic. I came in alone, but ran into so many friends from my past days…what a great event. Too bad the media didn’t care that a bunch of mature black folks got together in peace. House head 4 ever!

Lots of us agreed, the eastcoast segment of the party yesterday was not that enjoyable. since we pay now, it would be nice not mess with the formula that has always worked. This was the 1st year I didnt throughly enjoy myself. After speaking with friends I found they all agree. the low points started at around 5pm and jus got worse. I normally dont mind paying, the very hot weather and the crowd, but this time many of us left feeling totally unfulfilled. dont mean to throw salt on the game but we were in fact a little salty. sorry

C, we appreciate the feedback, and hope that you and your friends enjoyed yourselves overall. Thanks for celebrating life, love and HOUSE MUSIC with us.
