July 2-5, 2015
As the nation celebrates its independence, the Chosen Few DJs will again host the Chosen Few Picnic Weekend, a house music festival celebrating Chicago’s homegrown dance genre, July 2-5, 2015. The signature event of the weekend is the 25th annual Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in Jackson Park, 63rd and Hayes Drive, Chicago. What started as a small reunion of a few friends from the early days of house music has grown into one of the largest house music festival events in the world, drawing more than 45,000 dance music fans each year!
Nicknamed the “Woodstock of House Music” for its family reunion vibe, the daylong event is expected to draw more than 40,000 fans to celebrate the roots of house music.
For the 25th anniversary, the Chosen Few Picnic features performances from Stephanie Mills, Evelyn “Champagne” King and Cory Daye, plus guest DJs Masters At Work duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Derrick Carter, Stan Zeff, Keith Fobs and Greg Gray. A surprise guest performance also is planned.
Picnic entertainment also includes sets by the Chosen Few DJs: Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn. CFP25 festivities also comprise nightly parties and other events throughout the holiday weekend, including a lunchtime dance party at Daley Plaza on Wednesday, July 1.
The Loews Chicago O’Hare will serve as the official hotel of CFP25, offering exclusive rates and amenities for festival guests. General admission tickets and VIP packages go on sale in April via the group’s web site.
